One of the oldest and most useful mathematical tools ever invented is the abacus. It has since then been used as an effective way to teach kids math- abacus math.
Abacus math is a very unique and effective way to get kids more familiar with the concepts of multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and even decimal points.
The History
The abacus has been around since 5000 BC. The term abacus is a Latin word (abakon) that literally means a tablet. Obviously, this is because of the physical appearance of an abacus.
Now, in recent years, the abacus has been used in a relatively new and cutting edge teaching style called abacus math.
An abacus is made up of many beads and each one of these beads represents a number. Each combination of these beads would then represent a unique mathematical equation or problem.
The Benefits
One of the biggest benefits that your child would get from abacus math is the indisputable ability to learn and memorize the multiplication table faster. Using abacus math is the fastest and easiest way to learn multiplication.
Learning through abacus math can also instil a strong sense of understanding of numbers for your little children. Abacus math can help them to genuinely and naturally grow a love for mathematics. This would prove really helpful once they start taking the harder math subjects at school.
Another way that the abacus math method benefits your child is that it helps in brain development.
As you know, the human brain is most susceptible to learning and new information during early childhood.
Abacus math promotes the simultaneous use of the left and right brain hemisphere.
The more these two parts of the brain are used at the same time, the smarter your child will be. With abacus math, you are cultivating your child’s logical and creative development.
