How To Use Your Fast Learning Skills In Reading Books

You have mastered fast learning and now, you’re wondering: what can I do with my new skills? Well, one way to really practice your fast learning skills is through reading books.

Most people’s reading and learning are going to be done through physical books although this is starting to change and we’re starting to see some of these strategies be able to apply to e-books although not perhaps as well as physical books, but I think you will see this slowly change as e-books become more popular that the ability to take notes on e-books is getting easier as well.

Nonetheless, if you want to effectively read a book, especially non-fiction, you can easily use your fast learning skills here. Yes, your fast learning lessons will be put to a test!

But don’t worry, here are some techniques or reminders when you want to read a book in the fast learning way.

Take Notes

You really want to write your notes often in margins and borders of books. This is the key thing, because then if you’re not sure about something you can actually reference that material right there and then directly. So when you’re actually going through on a revision, this can be a really powerful technique. Now, at some stage you’re going to need to get your notes out onto a mind map or some sort of other external note taking system, like I just taught you, but at the start it’s often better for you just to get it in the notes and in margins, and borders.

Write Heading and Summaries

Another big one that I like to use it to write little headings or summaries at the top area of a book where there’s a space at the top area where perhaps there is the page number, right down just briefly, this is the bit about such and such, that kind of thing, and you don’t even need to write this is the bit, just write such and such, or whatever the topic is there, so that it’s very clear later on when you’re coming back to do a mini revision or at some later point in time, when you’re coming back to do a full revision.

Create Your Index

Another great strategy is to create your own index, so most books will have a blank page at the front of the book or a couple of blank pages at the back of the book, that kind of thing, create your own index about which parts are the most important part in the book.
